The Nagorno Karabakh region has been a major bone of contention between Azerbaijan and Armenia since the two nation-states were formed after the disintegration of the soviet union. The region has seen both sides resorting to open war in the last year. The geopolitical significance has also attracted regional powers into taking sides with Turkey allied with Azerbaijan and Russian supporting Armenia.

When Mahatma Gandhi Paid Visit to Dargah Qutubbudin Bakhtiyar Kaki Two Days Before His Assassination

Mahatma Gandhi visited Dargah of Qutubbudin Bakhtiyar Kaki, Mehrauli, Delhi amidst the communal riots on 27th January, 1948. He was killed two days later on 30th January by Nathuram Godse. Generally women were not allowed in the innermost shrine but the condition was waived off in order to allow women with Gandhi inside.

History of mental asylums in India

The earliest mental hospital was established at Bombay in 1745, which could accommodate only 30 mentally-abled patients. The first government run lunatic asylum was set-up, especially for ridiculous soldiers, at Monghyr in Bihar on 17 April 1795. During that period, excited patients were treated with opium, hot baths, sometimes, leeches were applied to suck their blood and even music was also used as a mode of therapy to calm down them.

The Indian Subcontinent Red Crescent Society’s Aid to the Ottoman State during the Balkan war in 1912:

The Balkan war that was declared in 1912 against the Ottoman Empire by Serbia, Montenegro, Bulgaria, and Greece brought many disasters with it. The cholera outbreak that started during the war proliferated rapidly among the Bulgarian Turks who were fleeing to Turkey, left the Ottoman Empire in a difficult position. In these difficult days the Red crescent came to their aid. The Indian Muslims sent the money they had collected to the red crescent.

Mohammed Abdul Karim: The Concealed Royal Munshi

In the present scenario of cyberbullying, the name ‘Abdul’ is used to demonize and defame Muslims as illiterate creatures full of hate. But a lesser-known fact is that one such Abdul transcended from being an ordinary clerk to becoming a powerful figure within the British Royal Court. His name was Mohammed Abdul Karim, titled The Munshi.
