Why do we really hear a cannon at the time of iftar?

In Beirut, capital of Lebanon, the canon firing was practised since time immemorial. But the use of canon had stopped due to the civil war which took place in the year 1980. Similarly in Afghanistan the sound of the firing canon stopped which ones came from the “sher darwaza mount” located in the capital city of Kabul. This was due the 1979 attack of the Soviet Union.

The Indian Subcontinent Red Crescent Society’s Aid to the Ottoman State during the Balkan war in 1912:

The Balkan war that was declared in 1912 against the Ottoman Empire by Serbia, Montenegro, Bulgaria, and Greece brought many disasters with it. The cholera outbreak that started during the war proliferated rapidly among the Bulgarian Turks who were fleeing to Turkey, left the Ottoman Empire in a difficult position. In these difficult days the Red crescent came to their aid. The Indian Muslims sent the money they had collected to the red crescent.

On 30 January, 1948, Mahatma Gandhi was killed by Nathuram Godse in Delhi. His assassination just after the deadly Hindu-Muslim riots in the subcontinent sent shivers among the Muslims and other peace loving Indians. People were anxious that if the killer was some Muslim it might lead to renewed violence against the whole community.
